Our bodies are not symmetrical right or left, and even internally. We are not exactly symmetrical. which. leads to individual uniqueness.

It is important to honor each uniqueness in your body and to honor when your body is giving you signals of pain throughout your body. You have to develop awareness throughout your body not to go to far which may result in an injury.

In Yoga, there is the subtle body, which you can not see, access, or identify and it is the essence of Yoga.

In modern medicine, a few things point to the subtle body, for example, body awareness. If someone has chronic pain, that individual’s awareness of that limb is inaccurate. (Rubber arm studies)

The body works best in optimal alignment to perform optimal function to create the right forces to build muscles and bones. Feel your body as you move to find proper alignment in your body.

It is essential to see a yoga therapist or a physical therapist to identify proper alignment for your body and to know when you are not in alignment.

Two groups typically score higher—those with chronic pain and those practicing contemplative practices.

The group with chronic pain scores higher because they are hyperaware of dysfunction in their body and often exacerbate symptoms. On the contrary, the contemplative practice group has nonjudgmental awareness; they can listen to the body’s messages and are careful about not creating a story of these symptoms, which can often make them worse.
