The goal, however, isn’t simply taking more calcium—it’s helping your body absorb and use it effectively.
Why Many Calcium Supplements Fall Short
Jennifer explained that many traditional calcium supplements use synthetic forms such as calcium carbonate or calcium citrate.
These products can work differently in the digestive system and, for some people, may contribute to digestive discomfort such as bloating, gas, or constipation.
She also explained something I emphasize often:
Healthy digestion plays a major role in nutrient absorption.
As we age, stomach acid production naturally changes, and many women also take acid-suppressing medications that can affect how nutrients are absorbed.
Supporting digestion is just as important as choosing the right nutrients.
